My name is Catherine VanDraska and I am in my second year of the MSW program at the University of Iowa. I went back to school to strengthen my ability to properly serve youth and families. My social work philosophy is to continue the ongoing process of self-reflection and growth to be my best self in order to service the individuals I work for to the best of my ability. I am particularly interested in social work administration and program development. Once I am a licensed master’s level social worker, I hope to find a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of youth and families. I want to be able to lead, train, and coach individuals that are passionate and committed to working alongside the underserved, marginalized, and oppressed groups in our society. I also want to stay politically involved, sit in on a few boards that fight for issues that I am passionate about, and to have time to volunteer to better my community.
